Adoption Process
Before the Pups
Adopting a new puppy is a big family decision. Before the pups arrive, we encourage potential new puppy parents to follow us on Facebook or Instagram for current updates and see updates from past litters. Get to know us, and ask questions! Contact us to learn more about our current dogs and past litters!
Join Our Waitlist!
Once you have made the choice to join the Round Hill Retrievers family, join our waitlist to be part of the next litter.

Unpaid Waitlist
Contact us via phone or email to be added to our unpaid waitlist. Please include your name, good contact to be able to reach you when the puppies arrive, and your gender/color preference for your puppy.
You can also let us know if you are looking to adopt in the most upcoming litter or if you would like to wait until a future litter.
Paid Waitlist
Use our website link here to place a $300 deposit (which will go towards the final balance) to be added to our Paid Waitlist. You will be able to choose your color and gender preferences there.
We will contact you shortly after to email you the Puppy Agreement to sign and return to us.
Those on the paid Waitlist will get first pick in the order in which their deposits were received. If there is not a puppy in your top choice, you may choose a difference puppy, move your deposit to the next litter, or receive a refund.
Deposits After Birth
If you did not place a deposit before the birth, and you would like to reserve a puppy after a litter is born, the deposit amount is $500 (towards the final balance) and is nonrefundable.
If you are 100% certain between 1-4 weeks old, we will gladly have a chat with you and accept deposit. We do prefer to have you come to our Puppy Meet & Greets at 4 weeks old to select your puppy and place deposit at that time.

Puppy Meet & Greets
We love meeting our future puppy parents! Once a litter turns four or five weeks old, and at the breeder’s discretion, we open our home up for Puppy Meet & Greets!
First choice always goes to those on our waitlists. We will contact you to schedule your meet and greet.
We then open up to anyone else who would like to come and meet the puppies, select your pup (pups will be color collared from then on), and place the $500 deposit towards holding your puppy.
At this time, you will also meet Mom and Dad of your litter. We do ask that you do not bring any adult dogs at this time, as the puppies will not have been fully vaccinated until 8 weeks old. You may and should bring any humans in the home who would like to meet the puppies!
Puppies cannot leave until at least 8 weeks of age or later, depending on the puppy’s progress.
All visits are by appointment only. Once a deposit is placed, we consider that to be your puppy, and we allow repeat visits until the time of weaning. However, all visits must be scheduled and approved. DO NOT arrive at our home unannounced or before your scheduled time. Please respect our home and other puppy parents’ visit times.
Going Home!
Once the puppies are 8 weeks of age (some may need more time), we will contact you to schedule your pickup date!
All puppies go to their new homes with a puppy goody bag with all their paperwork, puppy food sample, blanket, toy, puppy pads, poop bags, nail clippers, locally made bandana, a sample of our goat milk soap or lotion (made by Round Hill Ranch), and sometimes more! These are all samples to help you welcome your pup, but you should be prepared at home before pup arrives.
Puppies must be picked up once the breeder notifies that they are ready (always 8 weeks old and rarely later). If you are not able to pickup at this time, a boarding fee per day will be charged to account for an increase in feeding, more deworming, and vaccinations if applicable.
We do offer local transportation for an additional fee depending on your location. This should be communicated in advance if you believe you will need the puppy brought to you or to be met halfway. If you are beyond the New England area and are interested, we will want you to have a chance to adopt! If you cannot pickup, we can discuss options on transportation! Let us know!

After Leaving
Please follow the guidelines in your Puppy Agreement. All puppies must visit their new veterinary within three days of leaving our property. The vet will conduct a full exam. Any issues must be reported immediately.
The health warranty is VOID if new puppy parents fail to make this visit, if they fail to maintain and keep up with vaccination and deworming as directed by their vet, and if they do not continue to complete regular vet visits as required by their veterinary practice. We require the name and location of your vet at time of purchase.
Please see the Our Puppies & Upcoming Litters page for more information on how we raise our puppies at Round Hill Retrievers!
